Because with our FarmDog and FairCat complete feed, based on animal welfare chicken, it's still possible to feed your four-legged friend meat while also doing your bit for animal welfare and a more species-appropriate husbandry.

Why are our chickens cared for in a more species-appropriate way?

Our chickens have 30% more space and many opportunities for enrichment, allowing them to fulfill their natural behavioural instincts. These include straw bales, pecking stones, and new bedding for scratching and sand-bathing. They also have access to a winter garden with a fresh air supply, and live according to the natural rhythms of day and night. The chickens are not fed any genetically-modified feed, and they grow much slower than with conventional livestock farming. All of this ensures that the animals have a much better life, and that the use of medicines is virtually non-existent.

Green Petfood as a local business

All our partner farms are located in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg. They are inspected unannounced and at regular intervals by the independent "QAL" inspection body, in compliance with husbandry conditions stipulated by the German Society for the Protection of Animals.

Why do we use chicken from a more species-appropriate husbandry?

In the pet sector, meat from conventional farming is usually used. With our chicken from a more species-appropriate husbandry, we want to demonstrate that there are animal-friendly alternatives. Because only together will we be able to improve the living conditions of all the animals with whom we share our world.

Through close partnership with regional farmers, we can guarantee compliance with standards and consistently high quality. What's more, we know exactly how the animals live and that they have short, environmentally-friendly transportation routes.

Due to the very bad conditions of chickens bred for fattening, we consciously decided against using chickens from intensive livestock farming, as we were not able to square the suffering caused with our own conscience. We want to ensure that dog and cat owners who would like to feed their pets meat still have the opportunity to do their bit for animal welfare and to promote humane farming practices.
